|Trachystemon orientalis is a superb ground covering perennial even in dense shade. Plants have a sand papery, hairy very large architectural green leaves forming overlapping mounds. Curious blue, borage-like flowers appear in the spring on pink naked stems, before the leaves take over. Grows in full sun, partial or total shade in moist, well drained soil preferably, but will tolerate dry shade also. Hardy. Height 1m, spread 0.5 m.
