Cephalaria alpina

Cephalaria alpina is not an alpine plant but an elegant tall-growing scabious relative that is only slightly more compact than its larger cousin Cephalaria giantea. It forms large rosettes of hairy pinnate leaves from which strong, upright, branching stems of pale-yellow pincushion flowers appear in summer. It is perfect for growing in a mixed herbaceous border with other grasses and perennials and makes an excellent cut flower.

Austroderia richardii, syn. Cortaderia richardii, is a species of grass plant in the family Poaceae. The genus Austroderia is often called "pampas grass", though this name more correctly refers to Cortaderia selloana and other species of Cortaderia from South America. The name "tussock grass" may also be used, but the Maori name is "Toetoe".
