|Bergenia delavayi (Purpurescens) is a valuable plant for its bold architectural foliage and colour. An evergreen perennial with leathery round leaves up to 30cm across, turning a vivid beetroot colour in the late summer and through winter.
Easy to grow, in sun or partial shade in most soil providing the soil is not too dry. Take off old foliage as it turns brown. Carmine pink flowers in the spring. Hardy.
Maximum height to 50cm, spread up to 1m. Supplied in a 9cm pot.
