Phlomis(Phlomoides) tuberosa (Bronze Flamingo)
Phlomoides tuberosa is a beautiful and very hardy perennial flowering plant in the family Lamiaceae native to China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia; SW Asia and Europe. Enlarged, tuberous roots give rise to erect stems to 150cm bearing lilac-pink flowers. This species and a few others related to it are now classified under the species name Phlomoides, due to minor taxonomical differences to Phlomis.
Bronze Flamingo, a fancy name for the species is an upright, tuberous,semi-evergreen perennial with ovate, wrinkled, hairy, dark green leaves and erect, dark red to reddish-brown stems bearing architectural whorls of lilac-pink flowers in late spring and early summer
