Cotoneaster vandelaarii is named in honour of the late Harry van de Laar who was an accomplished professional plantsman at the Dutch Boskoop Research Station, and oversaw the introduction to our gardens of many fine plants. This species was collected whilst he and others were on a plant hunting trip in the Western Hills in China in 1980. This newer species gives year round pleasure. It has open pink flowers from June into July which are followed in late autumn and into winter by masses of long persisting small shiny orange red fruit which compliment the very shiny corrugated leaves. In mild winters the fruit can hang on until spring.
We supply these plants in 9cm pots as bushy vigorous young plants.
