Cotoneaster franchetii is one of the best evergreen shrubs for all year round interest. An evergreen which will grow virtually anywhere as long as it is not boggy, it lends itself well to training as a wall shrub or topiary and is one of the best hedging plants money can buy.
Cotoneaster franchetii has evergreen silvery foliage which is particularly attractive in the spring as the new growth emerges. The hawthorn- like scented pink flowers are a magnet for pollinators and are followed in the autumn with a profusion of orange berries.
Cotoneaster franchetii is very easy to grow on nearly all soils that are not waterlogged and is hardy throughout most of the UK.
First introduced to France in 1895 from China by the Abbé Soulié and named in honour of Adrien René Franchet, a French botanist based at the Paris Museum of Natural History who is commemorated for his work on the flora of both China and Japan.
We supply these plants in 9cm pots as bushy vigorous young plants.
