Salvia 'Hot Lips' Description

Salvia 'Hot Lips' is an evergreen sub-shrub with small, aromatic, ovate foliage which may turn dark-red in autumn and open racemes of crimson and white flowers on spikes in summer and autumn. Depending on season and temperature, the flowers on this Sage may appear completely white or completely red. It flowers consistently from spring through to winter, and if well sheltered may flower even during the winter in milder areas. Salvia jamensis ‘Hot Lips’, sometimes listed as Salvia microphylla ‘Hot Lips’ is from Mexico, but has adapted to the climate in the UK remarkably well. It can be grown in a large pot to display on the patio, but is equally at home in the shrub or perennial border. The habit of this shrub is proportional having a very bushy natural habit, eventually attaining a height and spread of 1.5m. It takes well to pruning as required. Salvia ‘Hot Lips’ has been awarded the prestigious RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit)

Cultivation Notes:
